Intent
There
are two main objectives behind the existence of The Sinister Flame magazine.
I will discuss these intentions here in brief.
First
off, there are very few Black & Death Metal magazines in the market
today that
focus on the actual essence of this music; Satanism and Occultism. Mainstream
Metal
magazines, even when presenting a Satanic Metal band, either only end
up
scratching the ideological surface or they simply ignore it, as it is
more
comfortable and interesting – for them and their
readers – to talk about recording processes and record sales.
The same goes for the far majority of underground publications. In consequence,
this awkward situation tells us all too much about all the parties;
the journalists, the bands and the readers. The way these people treat
Black & Death Metal as just another branch of Metal music is sickening
as much as it is wrong. But what do they know?
Hence,
one of the principal tasks of magazines such as The Sinister Flame is
to make sure the "wrong" people are not voiced – people
who play Black Metal and are involved just for musical reasons and false
objectives. Providing in-depth interviews
with serious people, able and willing to discuss the things why this
music exists in the first place, TSF attempts to distinguish Black Metal
as the unique form of Black Magick that it is.
Secondly,
the Satanic Metal underground is not dead. There are still
very serious
people involved within the Black & Death Metal scene with very exciting
projects. TSF will be one forum wherein these people can discuss their
art in a suitable manner.
